Oak Glossary by Seán Hewitt

Day 1 of 30. Poems Read from Scotland
5

So, I’ve Ronsealed a title for this series of 30 videos - Poems Read from Scotland - in which I’ll share a poem a day from a variety of poets who have inspired, challenged and chucked words into the mix as I stoat about trying to make sense of the world. First up is Oak Glossary from Tongues of Fire by the ever-awesome Seán Hewitt. This book is one that I reached for as we approached the spring equinox as it is firmly rooted in nature and is meditative and magical in how it plays out. Seán explores sex, grief and loss (not at the same time…), but with a firm focus on life and the intricacies that make it so worth living.

Grab a copy here and I promise it’s a book that you’ll come back to over and over again - Tongues of Fire, Seán Hewitt

Poems Read from Scotland
I read poetry to help make sense of the chaos that swirls, and for 30 days from 21 March 2024 I'll be sharing one poem per day right here on daunder.substack.com. These poems will be favourites from writers old and new, known, and yet to be discovered and the posts will be short and in a mish-mash of styles that will muster mindfulness, cajole creativity and hopefully tickle your fancy. Please do lend an ear, comment, share and get involved.
